Textile strings, stones
Wesleyan College | Macon, Georgia
Photography by Karley Sullivan
The artist worked with a group of students at Wesleyan College to create a temporary installation at its arboretum. Through several site visits, Hur responded to the serenity of nature. Inspired by Anne Wilson’s Wind-Up: Walking the Warp and Jean Shin’s Loop, the artist gathered mounds of colorful yarns and stones to reframe the outdoor space with a community of students. Lauri Stalling’s glo team joined Wesleyan College’s music students, generating a beautiful impromptu performance with Hur’s site-specific installation as a backdrop.

“The communal and performative aspects of the work were especially exciting, developing themes that have been present in Hur’s work but are now emerging more distinctly as a new and productive direction for the artist.”
