Love Song
2018 - present
Ongoing collaborative project with Dustin Chambers
Atlanta, Georgia & New York, New York
In Hur’s ongoing project, Love Song, the artist invites the viewer into her familial world through photographs taken by her collaborator Dustin Chambers. A trinity of personal spaces from Hur’s past, home, church, and cleaners, becomes an archive and impetus for Hur’s writing and a series of performative readings, taking the viewer through the artist’s reckoning between her immigrant family and the American South, singing a love song for irreconcilability.
“He smokes a morning cigarette in the backyard,
staring at the past that no longer sings.
He writes in the empty air sometimes,
poking and piercing through the humidity of Georgia summer,
The irreversible times of his autobiography in its destiny,
his pal jah”
