Horizontality
2016 - 2017
Ink pen on paper, various in size | Hong Kong & Harlem, New York
Hur’s drawing series Horizontality reflects on the act of accumulation and leveling. The artist meticulously traces each line by hand during her four-year sojourn in Hong Kong as an expatriate, and continues a few more iterations when she moved back to the States, specifically in Harlem, New York, in 2017. This ritual yields a disappearing landscape of the artist’s mind unraveled.
